Founded in 2001 GenKey has developed the unique, patented GenKey Biocryptic algorithm, bridging cryptology with biometrics. The biometric image is converted to PKI compatible crypto keys addressing traditional biometric challenges like privacy and speed. Impossible to reverse engineer, this foolproof identity number can be revoked if compromised.

The crypto key representation of the biometrics can be stored as a 1D barcode, enabling the creation of a biometric link between a person and any printable surface or storage device. GenKey created the system to run on ordinary PC’s, ensuring significantly lower investment, implementation and operating costs than in traditional biometric solutions. A laptop PC can hold the biometric representation of 1 billion people, and perform 1:many searches at unparalleled speed.

As a first application we have used this technology to build a revolutionary biometric ID management system. The system works "out-of-the-box", and is very configurable. That means that it can be utilized without a large implementation project. The system produces ID cards, tickets or stickers that can contain biometrics in the form of a 1D barcode. This feature can be used to create ID-cards and Visa stickers that enables authentication without hooking up to a central database or using smart-chips. Since these id-papers are based on a RSA Public Key Infrastructure, they can in certain use cases be used for digital signatures.
